Place of Birth: Sialkot, 1932. Sialkot is also the city of Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Moulana Ubaidullah Sindhi.

1947In 1947, while Mr. Azad Bin Haider was a 9th-grade student, he offered himself as a volunteer to work for the rehabilitation of Muhajirs at Wagah, Lahore, and later transferred to Muhajir Camp, Karachi. On 18 Aug, 1947, he offered the last lines of the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer at Eidgah Maidan, Bunder Road, Karachi, while Quaid-e-Azam offered the first lines. He completed his education from Matric to M.A LL.B at Karachi as a self-made person.
1956 – 1972Mr. Azad Bin Haider founded 13 Boys/Girls Schools at Karachi, which were nationalized in 1972. He distributed sweets for the occasion.
1958Mr. Azad Bin Haider lived in Liyari and was President of the Liyari Amn Committee. The Committee arranged a hunger strike for one hundred hours before the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) demanded a lease for Liyari.
1962Mr. Azad Bin Haider was enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He led the Rally of Khatam-e-Nabwat (SAW) to the House of the Prime Minister and was arrested/dropped near Landhi.
1963Mr. Azad Bin Haider became the Secretary of Jamia Islamia. The foundation stone was laid by President Ayub Khan.
1964Madir-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah was the Presidential candidate. Mr. Azad Bin Haider filed her nomination paper along with Mr. Hassan A. Shaikh and Sheikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman.
1965Mr. Azad Bin Haider went on a foreign tour. He met Jamal Abdul Nasir, the President of Egypt, and Bu Raqiba, the President of Tunis. He visited Nigeria and met Prime Minister Sir Ahmedo Belo, performed Hajj, met with Shaikh Abdullah and Mirza Afzal Baig, and had an audience with Shah Faisal. He also met with Mr. Abdul Salam Arif, the President of Iraq. He visited Kuwait, where he met with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, and visited the Tomb of Ghous-e-Azam in Karbala. He also met Mr. Sulaiman Demril, the Prime Minister of Turkey.
1968The Hyderabad Board of Secondary Education issued a notification that exams in secondary classes would be conducted in Sindhi language only. It was an unjust decision for the Urdu medium students and there was a serious reaction in the Interior Sindh. Nawab Muzaffar Hussain Khan, M.P.A., formed Urdu Mahaz, along with Munir Arain, M.P.A., and Usman Kanedy, M.P.A. There were strikes from Hyderabad to Sukkur. A student, Mr. Aslam, was martyred at Sukkur. Mr. Azad Bin Haider was appointed President of Urdu Mahaz Karachi. He convened the Urdu Conference at the Jabees Hotel in Karachi. After three days, Urdu Mahaz Karachi, along with the members of Parliament stated above and five hundred other workers, seriously protested at Tughlaq House in Karachi. Martial law Administrator and Governor of Sindh, Lieutenant General Rakhman Gul, called Mr. Azad Bin Haider and after their discussion, the Governor canceled the notification issued by the Hyderabad Board of Secondary Education. Mr. Azad Bin Haider addressed a public meeting at Hyderabad and the strike was called off.
1969Sain G.M. Syed addressed a letter to the United Nations requesting the recognition of Sindhu Desh as a country, with Mr. Ali Ahmad Talpur as the first President of Sindhu Desh. This caused a serious reaction from the citizens of Karachi. Mr. Azad Bin Haider called a meeting at Jabees Hotel in Karachi, supported by Moulana Abdul Hamid Badayuni, President of Jamiat-e-Ulumai-e-Pakistan, Allama Ibn-e-Hassan Jarchvi, Hafiz Habib Ullah, Vice Chairman of the KMC, many councilors of the KMC, Sheikh Liaquat Hussain, Muhammad Arif Advocate, Moulana Jameel Ahmad Naeemi, and many college unions. Karachi Suba Mahaz was formed, and they demanded that Karachi become a separate province. Mr. Azad Bin Haider prepared a feasibility report and submitted it personally to President General Yahya Khan. Sain G.M. Syed contacted Mr. Azad Bin Haider through Pir Ali Muhammad Rashdi and conducted negotiations with Sain G.M. Syed for one week. At the same time, Mr. Azad Bin Haider had three meetings with General Yahya Khan, who, on 27 Jun, 1969, agreed to declare Karachi as a separate province. A delegation of senior Muhajars met President General Yahya Khan and requested him to withdraw his decision. Sain G.M. Syed agreed not to pursue his application with the United Nations.

The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir hosted a high tea in Mr. Azad Bin Haider’s honor, attended by judges, lawyers, civil servants, and civil society.
1971Dewan Warsat Hussain, President Anjuman-e-Muhajreen-e-Mashraqi Pakistan, appointed Mr. Azad Bin Haider as Chief Organizer of Anjuman-e-Muhajreen-e-Mashraqi Pakistan for West Pakistan and for the rehabilitation of Biharis in West Pakistan. During the Martial Law of General Zia-ul-Haq, Gulam Haider Wyen was the Chief Minister of Punjab. Mr. Azad Bin Haider attended many meetings with Gulam Haider Wyen. The Chief Minister ordered the Deputy Commissioners of Punjab to construct Bihari Colonies in all the districts of Punjab. A trust was already established for the repatriation of Biharis, which was not functional. General Zia-ul-Haq deposited 3 million Rupees in the account and the trust was activated.
1973The Karachi Census was manipulated from 65 lacks to 35 lacks and was exposed in a Press Conference. CM Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi ordered Mr. Azad Bin Haider’s arrest.
1972 – 1977Mr. Azad Bin Haider addressed many public meetings in Karachi and Hyderabad and demanded that Karachi Suba Repatriation of Biharis challenge that a Martial Law Administrator cannot be a civilian. He was arrested and sentenced for one year. He was arrested again only a few days after his release. He was charged with many counts of DPR and anti-national activities and remained in the Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkar Prison. He was released when General Zai-ul-Haq came into power.
1983Mr. Azad Bin Haider visited Indonesia and met Mr. Suharto, the President of Indonesia.
1984When General Zia-ul-Haq announced the referendum, Mr. Azad Bin Haider was requested to comment on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). He was assured that the Objective Resolution, moved by Sheed-e-Millat and Liaquat Ali Khan, would be incorporated into the constitution of Pakistan, so he agreed and recorded his 55 minutes of comments on the referendum.
1984Mr. Azad Bin Haider attended International Law Conference in Rome, Italy to represent the Government of Pakistan.
1988Mr. Azad Bin Haider proposed on 27 Aug, 1988, that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif become General Secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League at the General Council, which had met at Holiday Inn, Islamabad. His proposal was accepted by the Council.
2004 – 2006Mr. Azad Bin Haider edited and published 32 books on the leaders of Pakistan Movements and four coloured calendars of the leaders.
2007 – 2013Mr. Azad Bin Haider headed the final session to commemorate the episode of 1857 under the auspices of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He edited several publications, including the weekly Nakhuda (1956-58), monthly Mehboo-e-Khuda (1958-60), monthly Mashriq (1962-68), daily Nauroze (1964-66) and monthly Sindh Card (1992-98).

His book, Role of Ladies in Pakistan Movement, was inaugurated in July 2007. He was Chief Guest in the Prime Minister’s House. He was awarded Gold Medals by the Prime Minister in 2011 and Chief Minister Punjab in December 2013. His book, Tareekh-e-All India Muslim League (Sir Syed Se Quaid-e-Azam tak), was inaugurated by Syed Sharif-ud-Din Pirzada at Karachi on 27 Sep, 2013, and by the Governor of Punjab at Lahore on 2 Nov, 2013, presided by the late Majeed Nizami, President of the Nazria Pakistan Trust.
22 Oct, 2014Mr. Azad Bin Haider’s book, Allama Iqbal, Yahoodiat and Jamhooriat, Iqbal and Jewish Democracy, was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammad Qaiser, the Vice Chancellor at Karachi University.
02 Apr, 2015Mr. Azad Bin Haider was invited to Karachi University by Professor Dr. Attaur Rahman to deliver a lecture on the Pakistan Movement.
21 Apr, 2015Mr. Azad Bin Haider presided over the final session of the One Day International Conference on Democracy, attended by five Vice Chancellors of Universities and many scholars. The Conference was organized by Professor Dr. Mohammad Ahmed Qadri, Chairman of the Political Science Department at the University of Karachi.
20 May, 2015Mr. Azad Bin Haider was invited by the Honorable Mamnoon Hussain, President of Pakistan, to a meeting for the Pakistan Workers Movement of all the Provinces in Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. His book, Tareekh-e-All India Muslim League (Sir Syed Se Quaid-e-Azam tak), was presented by the President’s staff to all the participants.
01 Oct, 2015Mr. Azad Bin Haider was appointed as Honorable Visiting Professor by the University of Karachi for the Political Science Department at Karachi University.
03 Dec, 2015Mr. Azad Bin Haider was the chief guest at the 36th annual conference of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan at the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Research Centre at the University of Karachi.
